Restaurante La Choca Tulum is a vibrant celebration of authentic Mexican flavors nestled in the heart of La Veleta, Tulum. This restaurant invites you to experience the rich culinary traditions of the Yucatán Peninsula through a thoughtfully curated menu that brims with both classic and gourmet specialties.
Step inside and you’ll immediately feel the warm, inviting atmosphere enhanced by the friendly and attentive staff, who are as passionate about the food as the guests who rave about it. The dining experience here is an exquisite journey through taste and texture, from the vivid Colorful Guacamole bursting with fresh, ripe avocados, to the smoky-spiced Tacos de Cerdo Al Pastor that melt in your mouth. The menu also boasts standout dishes like the delicately balanced Ceviche Bonito en Hoja Santa Aroma de Abanero, where the subtle smokiness of habanero aroma complements the freshness of fish, and the comforting, tangy Sopa de Lima Exquisita, a true Yucatecan soul-warming favorite.
Seafood lovers will be enchanted by the fresh Mariscos Caldo and the marinated, zesty Aguachile Maya, each bite delivering the perfect harmony of zest and spice. Vegetarians aren’t left behind either, with thoughtfully crafted Tacos Vegetarianos bringing vibrant, fresh flavors that satisfy and delight.
The drinks menu pairs perfectly with these culinary delights, featuring expertly mixed margaritas, smooth tequilas, and indulgent cocktails like the tropical Piña Colada, praised by many as refreshingly delightful after a flavorful meal.
Guests repeatedly highlight not only the wonderful quality and authenticity of the dishes but also the approachable pricing and welcoming ambiance. One visitor shared how a chance find led them to savor a superb fresh “mero” fish with incredible piña coladas and unforgettable guacamole, while another praised the ceviche as a dish so exceptional that it could be an experience in itself. This combination of authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and the lively yet cozy atmosphere truly makes Restaurante La Choca a must-visit culinary gem in Tulum.
We found this place accidentally when my friend was looking for a place that serves “Tikin Xic” - a fish dish prepared in the Yucatan style. And I ordered a fresh catch of the day fish which was a “mero” fish which is basically a grouper. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Their piña colada and colorful guacamole is great. And the personnel is super friendly. Please note that this place is cash only. Can’t wait to come back again
Upon entering the restaurant, a customer started to tell me how good the food is, I knew I was in for a treat (she also let me try her ceviche, thank you mystery woman of Tulum). Yes I ordered that plus the beef tacos (3 total). The ceviche was so good, I had it as an appetizer but it comes as a dish. The tacos were so good, I could only finish 1 because I was trying to savor every bite and it took me forever to eat so I gave up. The place got packed real quick with tourists and locals, so I take that as a win. Customer service was very good, always someone checking in to ensure you have all you need. Had a margarita as well, so yes, I recommend this place for sure.
We are two French girls traveling within Mexico. We went to this restaurant for the dinner. The place had been recommended by our hotel. We had a great culinary moment here. The two cocktails we ordered were absolutely delicious and the food even better. We ordered the lime soup (so good compared to other places in Mexico), a shrimp ceviche (marvelous very tasty) and the chicken tacos (also very good) ! The waiter was extremely nice and the chef was super friendly. We had time to talk with him and to share our feelings about our trip in his country. At the end, he offered us two shots of tequila ! We recommend this place at 100% ! And the price quality is a super good value (quite rare for Tulum) ! Do not hesitate to go !!!!!!!!!
Food are so good , definitely going back this weekend again
People and service were so kind ! amazing food! My favorite Mexican spot so far in Tulum thank you so much !
On a lady's vacation to Tulum, we happened upon La Choca Tulum, what a gem! The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the food absolutely delicious. Ivan (son of the amazing chef and our witty waiter), recommended multiple dishes with fresh seafood, each was stand alone superb. Should we find ourselves in Tulum again, there is no doubt that we would go back!
Just because I’m in tulum ur gonna assume that I’m not gonna eat like a baboon? Wronggg this fresh of the sea resto is incredible when it comes to cold fresh dishes, takes you to another planet The burrito was good but the other shrimp dish is one of the best things I had in my life
Food was great, they served fast. They do not speak any English but still did a good job in helping us with the choice. They are so kind and humble! I would definitely recommend this family business.
